The attacks on the wild animals by stray dogs are on the rise in Wadadgaon Shivar in Waluj Industrial Area in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The deer and other wild animals are getting injured due to the attacks and several have even died. A one-and-a-half-month-old fawn of a deer was severely injured in the dogs’ attack on Tuesday. Despite informing the forest officers, no assistance was received, which has irked the local residents.
The wild animals often come to Golwadi, Wadadgaon, Naigaon – Bakwalnagar, Waluj, Hanadgaon, Lanzi, Pimparkheda and other villages in Waluj Industrial Area in search of food and water. As the Kham river is flowing in this area, it is always green and has ample water. Hence, the wild animals including deer, rabbits, leopards, peacocks and others come in search of food and water here.

Moreover, the wild animals are recently being attacked by groups of stray dogs. The incidents of attacks have increased considerably in the past few months. The animals are getting injured and dying in the attacks. Three incidents of attack on deer by dogs have been reported in Haladgaon. The local residents rescued these animals and had them taken to the veterinary doctor of the forest department for treatment.
Now, a fawn has again been attacked by the dogs on Tuesday and it was lying in a pool of blood. The local residents informed the forest department about it, but no timely response was received. The officers and the employees had not reached the spot in time. The villagers have expressed dissatisfaction over the apathetic attitude of the authorities. They demanded that the forest department should take measures so that the wild animals do not enter this area.
Later, forest guard Prabhudas Hazare and Raghunath Sonawane arrived on the spot after several requests from the residents and took the injured fawn to the hospital on a motorcycle. Local residents Prakash Mhaske, Arun Ghule, Prameshwar Butte, Sahebrao Pathrikar and others rescued the calf from the dogs’ attack.
