Pune Traffic: Kalyani Nagar Residents Meet DCP Amol Zende, Demand Traffic Constables At Shastri Nagar Chowk, Adlabs Chowk, No-Parking Measures & Better Safety

Residents of Kalyani Nagar in Pune met with Deputy Commissioner, Traffic Branch Amol Zende to discuss traffic and pedestrian safety concerns in the area. A formal letter detailing all the issues was submitted during the meeting.

Residents speak up

Rachna Agarwal, a resident of Kalyani Nagar, said, "We have put forward our demands and want two traffic constables stationed at Adlabs Chowk immediately, especially during peak hours. Frequent unauthorized parking by commercial establishments leaves no space for residents and visitors. Rickshaws are parked on the No Parking side, particularly in DMart Lane. There is no proper last-mile connectivity at the metro station. Cars are being parked for days, left unattended—for example, one car is junking in Lane 7 opposite Lunkad Sky Lounge society. Also, there is double-parking late at night in Lane 7D."

Drayson Dixon, Vice Chairperson of Team Swachh Kalyaninagar (TSKN) , said, "Miscreants have tampered with the signal box at GA Junction. A new tamper-proof traffic signal operation box needs to be installed, and these miscreants identified. We also need CCTV monitoring of traffic at GA Chowk, a pedestrian crossing at Shastri Nagar Chowk, and opening two roads as per the DP plan—Blue Grass Road connecting SA to Gunjan Chowk, and Holy Cross Road connecting DMart Lane to Vadgaon Sheri and St. Arnold School—to ease traffic congestion."

Jaffar Iqbal, Secretary of TSKN, said, "Challans should be issued for vehicles parked in no-parking zones. A traffic constable should be deployed at Shastri Nagar Chowk to assist and ensure pedestrian safety during crossings. E-challans should also be issued for no-parking violations. Strong enforcement measures to stop wrong-side driving at Adlabs Chowk from East Avenue Road, and strict enforcement of no-parking zones near Silver Oak Society should also be part of the traffic plan."

Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Pune Traffic Police, said, "We are resolving traffic issues at various locations and altering routes accordingly for smoother traffic flow."
