The shocking suicide case of former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagawane's daughter-in-law Vaishnavi (26) in Pune has caused uproar across the state.
The Hagawane family — which includes her husband Shashank, mother-in-law Lata Rajendra Hagawane, father-in-law Rajendra Hagawane, sister-in-law Karishma, and brother-in-law Sushil — has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to abetment to suicide and domestic violence.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law of the victim, while Rajendra and Sushil are on the run.
Who Are Karishma, Shashank And Rajendra Hagawane?
Rajendra Hagawane was a former leader of the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP.
He contested the 2004 assembly election from the Mulshi assembly constituency and bagged 61,594 votes, standing second when Dhamale Sharad Bajirao won the election.
While Karishma is the daughter of the family, Shashank is the younger son, and Sushil is the elder son.
Sushil was the President of the Youth Nationalist Congress Party in Mulshi.
Karishma claims to be Fashion Designer & Fashion Stylist and owns a brand named Laxmitara By Karishma.
Rajendra was the head of the Mulshi Tehsil's party division.
