Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol has said that the Pune Airport's old terminal will be redeveloped in a lavish and modern way, just like the new one. He was speaking at the launch of the DigiYatra service at the new terminal building.
"While discussions on the demolition (of the old terminal) are ongoing with the concerned authorities, it will also be redeveloped in a lavish and modern way, similar to the new one," the Pune MP said.

"In the first phase, the renovation of only the old arrival area will be taken up. It will be turned into an additional departure area with a new security hold, 16 check-in counters and a security check," Mohol had said earlier. "Furthermore, a state-of-the-art security check area will be introduced, equipped with advanced Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) and X-ray machines to enhance security measures and expedite the screening process," he had added.
Currently, 80 per cent of domestic and international flights are operating from the new terminal, said Mohol, adding that all flight movements will soon be shifted there. The new terminal, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024, spans an area of 22,000 square metres and has a passenger handling capacity of 7 million annually.
Recently, Mohol informed that a Pune Airport Advisory Committee had been formed with five nominated members — Sudhir Mehta, Abhijit Pawar, Akhilesh Joshi, Amit Paranjape and Amit Tingre — with Mohol as its president.
