The gram panchayat of Paud village in Pune district has passed a controversial resolution restricting non-resident Muslims from offering namaz in the local mosque. This comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 people lost their lives, including two from Pune.
"In a special meeting organised in the presence of villagers of Paud and the Muslims living in the village, a resolution has been passed. As per the resolution, only Muslim residents of the village will be able to offer namaz in the local mosque. Muslims from outside the state, Muslims who have come on business in the area and Muslims from any other village nearby won't be allowed. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the law and order and security of the village," read the resolution in Marathi.
