In a move aimed at easing traffic flow, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated one side of the Sinhagad Road flyover – from Vitthalwadi to Funtime Theatre – on Thursday. However, a day after its inauguration, a traffic jam was witnessed on the flyover during the evening hours.

The flyover was constructed to alleviate traffic congestion at the Rajaram Bridge junction and improve traffic flow on Sinhagad Road, while also enhancing pedestrian safety.
Designed to facilitate smoother travel towards Swargate, the flyover aimed to reduce fuel consumption for vehicles that otherwise get stuck in traffic jams.

The 2.2 km-long lane of one side of the flyover was built with the intention of helping motorists avoid traffic signals at Vitthalwadi, Hingne Khurd, Anandnagar, Bramha Hotel and Goel Ganga Chowk while going from Vitthalwadi to Funtime Theatre on Sinhagad Road.
Meanwhile, the opposite 1.54 km-long lane of the flyover – from Indian Hume Pipe to Inamdar Chowk – is set to be completed in June. This will help avoid traffic signals at Bramha Hotel, Anandnagar and Hingne Khurd.
The entire project was implemented at a cost of ₹118.37 crore, with an additional ₹27 crore allocated for metro pillars.
