Domestic Fight Turns Fatal In Pune's Daund: 11-Month-Old Dies After Being Struck By Trishul

A shocking incident has come to light from Pune's Daund, where an 11-month-old boy was killed in his mother’s lap after being unintentionally hit by a trident (trishul) by his aunt, who had aimed it at her husband.

The incident took place on Thursday, around 11 am, at Ambegaon Punarvasan village in Daund taluka.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the boy’s mother went to her uncle’s house to intervene in a domestic dispute between the couple.

The woman’s (victim's) brother-in-law and his wife live close to her house. The brother-in-law and his wife consistently had arguments due to family and domestic issues. On the day of the incident, a heated argument was going on between them.

After hearing the argument, the victim went to their house with her 11-month-old son to intervene and calm them down.

Meanwhile, angry over the dispute, the complainant’s sister-in-law picked up the trident and aimed it at her husband, who was standing beside the victim.

Her husband dodged to save himself, after which the trident hit the boy’s forehead, causing severe bleeding.

The boy was taken to the local hospital, but due to significant blood loss, he succumbed to his injuries.

Narayan Deshmukh, Police Inspector of Yavat Police Station, said the man and his wife were arrested under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), and 3(5) of common intention of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, after the complaint was launched by the boy’s mother. The husband tried to hide the evidence. However, the police have recovered the trident.
