Chaos On Pune’s Roads: Supriya Sule Demands Immediate Action To End Dhayari’s Traffic Nightmare; Seeks Completion Stalled DP Road

The issues of traffic congestion in Pune are unending, with areas like Narhe, Dhayari, and Sinhagad Road being no exception. The residents of the Dhayari area have raised their concerns time and again. Now, NCP MP Supriya Sule has expressed her worries about the growing urbanization and traffic congestion in the Dhayari area, stating that the settlement in this region has increased significantly, leading to frequent traffic jams on all roads.

Sule emphasized the urgent need for the completion of the DP road in Dhayari, which has been stalled for the past few years. Residents from the area recently protested to voice their concerns to the government.

Sule urged the Guardian Minister of Pune to take swift action and prioritize the completion of the roadwork. Additionally, she stressed the importance of proper traffic planning to alleviate congestion, urging the Pune City Police to focus on resolving these issues and providing much-needed relief to the citizens.

Recent protest

Recently, on January 26, the Pune unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with residents of Dhayari village and the Sinhagad Road area, staged a peaceful hunger strike to protest the administration's inaction on the pending Development Plan (DP) roads and the worsening traffic congestion.

The traffic congestion on Dhayari village roads, including Dhayari-Narhe, Nanded Phata to Nanded City Gate, and Lagad Mala to Dhayari Phata, has become a critical issue. For the last four years, we have consistently submitted letters to the various dedicated departments, but no steps have been taken yet by the administration.

Because of the absence of traffic enforcement and malfunctioning lights, traffic has become a major issue in the area. Roads like Dhayari Village Road, Dhayari-Narhe Road, Nanded Phata to Nanded City Gate, and Lagad Mala to Dhayari Phata are severely congested as a result. Despite the fact that Dhayari had four DP roads planned 28 years ago, not much has changed.

It should be noted that recently, President of India Draupadi Murmu directed the chief secretary of the state to take action on the development plan (DP) roads in Dhayari that are pending for more than 28 years.

The President also sent a letter to Dhananjay Benkar, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) city president, briefing him about the directions issued to the state government to address the problem. Benkar had highlighted the issue of the traffic in his letter.
