Thane News: Auto Driver Jumps Into Kasheli Creek, Search Operation Called Off After 10 Hours Due To Darkness

The Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) launched a search operation after a 53-year-old man reportedly jumped into the Kasheli creek in Bhiwandi on Sunday morning. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Narpoli Police Station.

Operation Called Off After Nightfall
Despite a search effort lasting nearly eight to ten hours, the man could not be located. The operation was eventually called off due to darkness, according to police sources.

Prompt Response by Authorities
An official from the Regional Disaster Management Cell of the Thane police said they received a call around 8:30 AM on Sunday, reporting that a man had jumped into the creek from a bridge. Following the alert, a TDRF team, accompanied by one fire engine, a rescue boat, and a support bus, was dispatched to the site.

Victim Identified as Thane Auto Driver
The man has been identified as Rajeshkumar Kailasnath Dubey, an auto-rickshaw driver residing at Chaudhary Chawl in the Kajuwadi area of Thane. Police confirmed that he had jumped into the creek.

Joint Effort by Multiple Agencies
The search operation involved personnel from the Thane Police, Narpoli Police Station, the Bhiwandi Fire Department, the Thane Fire Department, and the TDRF. Teams used boats and rescue gear to search the water through the day.

Possible Reason: Domestic Dispute
Vijay Kadbane, Senior Police Inspector of Narpoli Police Station, said: “Preliminary investigation suggests he may have taken this drastic step due to a domestic dispute.”
