Mumbai News: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi’s Complaint To MTNL Leads To Discovery Of ₹12 lakh Copper Cable Theft
According to the FIR, on March 22, MP Chaturvedi reported to MTNL that her landline phone was not working and the line was interrupted. The MP resides in Uttam Nagar, Goregaon West.

Mumbai: Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Member of Parliament, lodged a complaint with MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited) regarding an interruption in her residential telephone service. While MTNL staff were investigating the issue and inspecting the cables, they discovered that eight copper cables worth ₹12 lakh were missing. Following this, MTNL filed a complaint with the Goregaon police. An FIR was registered against an unidentified person for alleged theft on April 23.
According to the FIR, on March 22, MP Chaturvedi reported to MTNL that her landline phone was not working and the line was interrupted. The MP resides in Uttam Nagar, Goregaon West. The next day, MTNL staff checked the cable near the MTNL office and found that the line was functioning. They then proceeded to inspect the line near the MP’s residence in Uttam Nagar. There, the staff discovered that the duct lid was open and the copper cables had gone missing. A total of eight copper cables, valued at ₹12 lakh, had been stolen from the duct due to the line being interrupted. These cables, which had been installed before 1995, stretched a total of 2,736 metres.
