Palghar, Maharashtra: A 67-year-old man, Bentes Gonsalves, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident in Nalasopara East on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 11:00 am near Central Park on Oswal Nagar Road when a speeding motorcycle struck him while he was walking home with his granddaughter.

Accused Teen Rider Identified as Ansh Satyendra Singh

According to the FIR registered at Tulinj Police Station, the accused, identified as Ansh Satyendra Singh, aged 19, was riding a Pulsar motorcycle at high speed when he allegedly recklessly hit Gonsalves as he was crossing the road. Singh reportedly fled the scene without providing assistance or informing authorities.

FIR Registered Under BNS and Motor Vehicles Act Sections

The victim sustained severe injuries and succumbed on the spot. Police have booked the accused under BNS Sections 106, 125(A), and 125(B) and Motor Vehicles Act Sections 184 and 187.

Victim’s Wife Alleges Reckless Driving, No Help Offered

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by the victim’s wife, a 62-year-old homemaker, who stated that the rider’s negligence and rash driving directly caused her husband’s death. She also alleged that the rider fled immediately after the incident, failing to report the accident or help the injured.

Authorities are continuing their probe, and further legal action against the accused is expected.
