Palghar Police Crack Murder Case In 12 Hours; 22-Year-Old Accused Arrested

Palghar, Maharashtra: In a swift and efficient operation, Palghar police have successfully solved a brutal murder case and apprehended the accused within just 12 hours of the incident.

The crime came to light on the morning of May 20, 2025, at approximately 6:15 am, when Vipul Dashrath Dhodde, a resident of Wave-Dongripada, reported the murder of his 70-year-old aunt, Ravu Ramchandra Kamdi. She was found dead inside a community hall where she had been sleeping, having sustained severe injuries to her chin from a sharp weapon and subsequently strangled. A case was registered at Tarapur Police Station at 2:43 pm on the same day.

Recognizing the gravity of the crime, Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil immediately ordered the formation of special investigation teams from the Local Crime Branch (LCB), Palghar, and Tarapur Police Station.

Under the guidance of senior officers, the teams swiftly visited the crime scene, gathered initial information from the complainant and witnesses, and pursued leads obtained through local informants and technical surveillance. Their rapid efforts led to the detention of Ankesh Vilas Savare, a 22-year-old local resident. During interrogation, Savare confessed to the murder, stating his motive was anger towards the victim for causing disputes with his mother. Based on his confession, he was arrested on May 20.

Police also suspect the possibility of sexual assault in the case. Further investigations are being conducted under the supervision of Vikas Naik, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Boisar Division.
