Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced a 24-hour water cut in several parts of the city from noon on May 14 to noon on May 15. The water supply shutdown is necessary to carry out important repair work on the Morbe main water pipeline, according to Lokmat report.

The pipeline, which supplies water to the city from the Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant, has been facing repeated leakages, especially near Agroli Bridge and below Chikhale village. To fix these issues permanently, NMMC is moving ahead with the second phase of the pipeline replacement project.

During these 24 hours, there will be no water supply in Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, and Airoli. People living in these areas will have no water on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, and even by Thursday evening, the supply will be low and may not reach all households, as per report.

In addition, the disruption will also impact direct tap connections that are linked to the main water channel. Nearby areas like Kharghar and Kamothe, which are under CIDCO’s management, will also face the same water cut.

The civic body has urged residents to store enough water in advance and use it carefully during the outage. NMMC has appealed to the public for their support and patience so the essential repair work can be completed without any obstacles.
