Navi Mumbai: Three minor boys from Goregaon, Mumbai, who had come to shoot reels near the KP Falls located between Karjat and Lonavala railway stations, were rescued after getting lost in the forest at night. The teenage boys, aged between 14 and 16, lost their way and were found by Khopoli police and social workers after a search operation.
The boys—Roshan Vishwakarma Ramswaroop (14), Mannat Kevat (14), and Abhinav Venugopal (16)—were safely brought to Datt Temple near Borghat and then taken to Khopoli Police Station, where they were kept under supervision until their parents arrived.
The incident occurred on Thursday at around 8 PM. According to police, the trio ventured too close to the waterfall, where a mishap caused one of them to slip into the valley.
"In an attempt to assist, the second boy also fell, and the third climbed down to rescue his friends. Trapped between a steep cliff and dense forest, they were unable to find their way back and eventually contacted the police emergency helpline 100 around 5:30 PM and the team could reach there only by 8pm," constable Amol Dhoiphode from Khopoli police station said.
KP Falls, situated approximately 3 kilometers from the Zenith waterfall at Borghat on the Mumbai-Pune railway line, has recently gained attention due to viral reels on social media. However, authorities have raised serious safety concerns regarding visitors to this hazardous area.
The boys had informed their parents that they were going for a trip but the location was not informed to them. They had traveled by train to Goregaon.
