Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed all civic departments to expedite pre-monsoon works and ensure meticulous planning for the upcoming monsoon. Key instructions include timely completion of nullah and drainage cleaning, tree pruning, and prompt disposal of collected silt. The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting with departmental heads.

Dr. Shinde emphasized that all control rooms must remain fully operational during the monsoon and that senior officials should conduct regular site visits to monitor progress. He stressed the importance of swift maintenance work across departments like roads, water supply, sewage, and gardens, and called for robust feedback mechanisms to evaluate the quality of work by external agencies.

Additional focus was placed on trimming hazardous trees, ensuring functional street lighting, and surveying dangerous buildings. Dr. Shinde instructed that highly dangerous (C-1 category) buildings be vacated and the list of such structures be made public. Encroachments near nullahs and landslide-prone areas are to be removed without delay.

The Commissioner also lauded NMMC's third-place ranking in the state’s 100-Day Office Reform Campaign and urged officials to maintain momentum by implementing the 10-point action plan. He advocated for the increased use of digital tools in daily operations, citing the ongoing state-led “Tech-Wari” technology training week and encouraging staff participation.

Dr. Shinde further instructed all departments to achieve 100% adoption of the e-office system and coordinate efforts on tasks such as road excavation, repairs, and removal of abandoned vehicles. He called on department heads to set clear deadlines for all ongoing and upcoming projects.

"Public awareness on waste segregation, plastic ban enforcement, and cleanliness is important. The Solid Waste Management Department has been directed to strengthen citizen engagement and enhance awareness campaigns to ensure continued success in maintaining city hygiene," Dr Shinde said.
