Mumbai: In a shocking incident from Mumbai's Malad, a married woman was allegedly blackmailed and sexually assaulted by a trusted friend who threatened to circulate obscene videos of her with her husband and relatives. The accused, identified as Himanshu Kumar Singh, reportedly extorted a total of Rs 13 lakh in cash and gold ornaments from the victim.

According to police officials from Bangur Nagar, the woman, aged 38 and employed with a private company, lived in Malad with her family. She met Singh around three years ago, and over time, they developed a close friendship. Despite being aware of her marital status, Singh allegedly manipulated her emotionally, turning her against her husband and gradually initiating an intimate relationship, according to a Lokmat Times report.

Accused Secretly Recorded Obscene Videos Of Private Moments With Victim

Using her trust to his advantage, Singh secretly recorded explicit videos of their private moments through her mobile phone, laptop and even a hidden spy camera. He later used these recordings to threaten her, demanding large sums of money and warning that he would share the videos with her family if she refused to comply.

Fearing humiliation and family fallout, the woman gave in to his threats. Police investigations revealed that she was forced to transfer Rs 6.25 lakh into Singh’s bank account. In addition, Singh allegedly stole gold ornaments worth Rs 6.75 lakh from her home. Under continuous pressure, the victim also suffered multiple instances of sexual assault by the accused.

FIR Filed Against Accused, Probe Underway

Eventually, unable to bear the harassment any longer, the woman approached the Bangur Nagar police and filed a formal complaint two days ago. Based on her statement, an FIR was registered against Singh under several serious charges, including blackmail, extortion, sexual assault and sections of the Information Technology Act. He has been booked under sections 64(2)(M), 305, 308(2), 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The accused, a native of Lalupar village in Chautham, Khagaria district of Bihar, is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him. Officials are also examining digital evidence and financial transactions as part of the ongoing investigation.
