A day after a high-end Mercedes was involved in a major crash on Palm Beach Road near Nerul, another serious accident occurred on the same stretch on Tuesday morning, leaving a 12-year-old boy critically injured. The boy suffered a severe head injury after a speeding dumper collided with the Baleno car he was travelling towards the Satra Plaza junction.
The child, identified as Himmat Lohar, was being driven to ICL School by his father, Jagdish Lohar (32), a resident of Kopri in Vashi. The incident took place around 7:30 am when Lohar was taking a right turn toward Vashi. A dumper, reportedly speeding from the Vashi side toward Koparkhairane, struck the car on the left side.

“Both the Baleno and the dumper were damaged in the crash. We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the dumper driver, Khayyum Shaikh (30), and further legal proceedings are underway," a police officer from APMC police station said.
