Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred at the World Trade Center construction site in Mumbai, where a 26-year-old laborer lost his life after a freight lift collapsed from the 12th floor.

The incident took place on April 9, at around 10:45 AM, and a case of accidental death has been registered at Cuffe Parade Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to Police Officer information, The deceased, identified as Balkrishna Rana, was engaged in plastering work on the building and was operating a lift used for transporting materials when the lift suddenly gave way. Rana sustained serious injuries in the fall and was immediately rushed to St. George’s Hospital, where Dr. Davani, the attending medical officer, declared him dead before admission.

As per Police Officer, The plastering work was contracted to Structural Specialities and Projects Pvt. Ltd. Preliminary findings suggest that the freight lift was of substandard quality, leading to the fatal accident. Police have indicated that preparations are underway to file a formal case against the company responsible for the faulty lift installation. The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Maind.
