Late actor Vinod Khanna and actress Madhuri Dixit courted a major controversy back in 1988 when during the shoot of their film, Dayavaan, the former allegedly "lost control" and went on to kiss the latter for five minutes even after the director shouted 'Cut!'. The incident left a 20-year-old Madhuri scarred, not just mentally but also physically, as she ended up with a bleeding lip.
During the shoot of a particular intimate scene in the film, Khanna, who was 41 at the time, was supposed to kiss Madhuri. While the former was at the peak of his career by then, the latter was a newbie and was still trying to carve a niche for herself in the industry. While the audiences were excited to watch the unconventional pair on screen, they made headlines back then for all wrong reasons, as reports stated that Madhuri was left aghast due to the intimate scene with Khanna.
Reportedly, Khanna kept kissing Madhuri for five minutes, even after Feroz Khan, who was the director of Dayavaan, yelled 'Cut!'. Not just kissing, but Khanna even bit the actress' lips, which left her bleeding and Madhuri reportedly cried inconsolably when Khanna finally stopped.

While Khanna later apologised to Madhuri, Feroz Khan received a legal notice to remove the scene from the film. Madhuri too requested him to not include the scene in the film, however, he decided to keep it by paying Rs 1 crore.
Later, speaking about the incident in an interview, Madhuri had revealed that she was not aware of the intimate scene in the film, and that she feels shocked to watch it on screen till date.

While Madhuri later went on to become one of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood, Khanna quit acting at the peak of his career and embarked on a spiritual journey with Osho. He passed away in 2017 after prolonged illness.
