On Wednesday, Mumbai witnessed severe traffic snarls as moderate to intense spells of rain lashed several parts of the city.
During the peak hours, traffic movement on the Western Express Highway (WEH) was particularly slow, while the both Central and Western line suburban trains were running late.
Waterlogging is expected in several low-lying areas if the downpour continues.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in isolated areas of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar and the ghat regions of Pune and Nashik over the next 3–4 hours.
The IMD also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in North Konkan and isolated parts of South Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra’s ghat areas. The alert also included warnings of thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) in Marathwada.
