A dilapidated building located behind the Madanpura Post Office in Byculla West collapsed on Monday morning. The ground-plus-three-storey structure had earlier been declared unsafe by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and was fully vacated prior to the incident.

According to civic officials, a partial collapse occurred around 2 am, affecting the rear portions of the first and third floors. In response, teams from the BMC’s E Ward, Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, and MHADA personnel rushed to the site to assess the situation and cordoned off the area. Despite precautions, the entire building collapsed by 11:30 am. Fortunately, due to the prior evacuation of all occupants, no injuries or casualties were reported.
