Mumbai: Commuters relying on the Monorail faced inconvenience on Monday morning after a technical issue led to disruptions in services during peak hours.
A train carrying passengers developed a technical fault shortly after departure and was brought back to Chembur station. As a precautionary measure, passengers were deboarded and the rake was sent to the depot for inspection, officials said.
The Monorail typically operates with a frequency of 15 minutes during peak hours. According to Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), which operates the system, the fault occurred in one of the operational rakes, leading to a temporary reduction in fleet strength. The Monorail runs with six active rakes and one on standby; the affected rake had to be withdrawn from service.
