Mumbai: To address the severe traffic congestion on the road leading to Pali Hill in Bandra (West), Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given in-principle approval for the construction of an additional link road to the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sea Bridge (Versova-Bandra Sea Link). The proposed link will connect near Hotel Taj Lands End, close to Bandra Fort, to help streamline traffic flow in the area.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by CM Fadnavis at the Sahyadri Guest House to review various public infrastructure works in the Bandra (West) Assembly constituency.
The area from the sea link to Bandra (West) experiences heavy traffic regularly. CM Fadnavis directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to prepare a detailed plan for the new link road to help alleviate this congestion.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the rehabilitation of slum clusters in Maharashtra Nagar and Shastrinagar near Bandra Station (West). The Chief Minister instructed officials to facilitate the transfer of land from the Bandra BEST bus depot to complete a proposed development road in the area.
In Santacruz (West), redevelopment of the old BEST colony in Daulatnagar was also discussed. CM Fadnavis asked officials to move forward with this proposal.
The redevelopment of MHADA's transit camps also came up for discussion. In particular, the Chief Minister directed MHADA to initiate the redevelopment process for its plots No. 7 and 8 in Bandra (West), currently occupied by slums such as Shastrinagar and Qureshi Nagar, to protect the land and improve housing conditions.
