Mumbai News: API And Two Constables Suspended For Misusing Authority In Private Financial Dispute

Mumbai: In a major disciplinary action, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Region) has suspended an Assistant Police Inspector (API) and two constables attached to Kherwadi Police Station for allegedly misusing their positions to intervene in a private financial dispute for personal gain.

The suspended officers are Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Jalindar Jadhav and Constables Karamchand Prabhakar Duve and Vishal Ashok Jadhav. All were posted at Kherwadi Police Station and have been suspended from service pending a departmental inquiry.

The suspension was ordered after a preliminary inquiry revealed that the officers interfered in a financial dispute between two individuals, Mufti Nasimuddin Sukhanu Sheikh and Mehul Mehta alias Usman Shafi Surya, without any official jurisdiction or authority, and despite not being on active duty at the time of the incident.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjeet Singh Dahiya, the API and two constables are accused of pressuring one party to settle the dispute, which constitutes serious misconduct. “Preliminary action has been taken against the API and two constables involved,” Dahiya confirmed.

The incident came to light after the complainant approached a senior police officer regarding a written complaint filed at Kherwadi Police Station. It was alleged that the concerned API and constables misused their positions for personal benefit by intervening in the dispute.

As per the preliminary investigation report, API Ravindra Jadhav, despite not being on active duty, attempted to influence the outcome of the financial dispute for personal gain. His conduct, along with that of the two constables, was found to be highly inappropriate and a misuse of police authority. All three officers have been suspended with immediate effect, pending a full departmental inquiry.
