According to officials, the woman had made a distress call to her family doctor shortly before her death, stating that her family members were harassing her. When she stopped responding to further calls, the doctor alerted her relatives in Pune.
“Her family rushed to Mumbai and discovered that she had died by suicide,” a police official said, quoting preliminary information.
The victim’s brother alleged that she had been facing continuous harassment over dowry demands from both her husband and mother-in-law. The police have initiated an investigation into the claims and said all allegations are currently being verified as part of the ongoing probe.
