Punjab Police Bust ISI-Backed Arms Smuggling Module; Five Held With Assault Rifle, Pistols & Drug Money

Chandigarh: Punjab police on Sunday claimed to have busted in close coordination with Central agencies, an arms smuggling module backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) handlers.

Stating that the police had nabbed five accused in this connection, the director general of police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, said on X that seizure from them included an AK Saiga 308 assault rifle with two magazines, two Glock pistols 9 mm with four magazines, 90 cartridges of AK rifle, 10 live cartridges (9mm) Rs 7.50 lakh drug money, a car and three mobile phones.

Stating that the accused were identified as Jobanjit Singh, Gora Singh, Shenshan, Sunny Singh, all residents of Amritsar district and one Jaspreet Singh a resident of district Rupnagar, DGP Yadav said that preliminary investigation revealed that they had direct links to Pakistan-based ISI operatives.
