Mumbai Coastal Road Accident: Car Loses Control And Overturns Twice Near Haji Ali; 19-Year-Old Woman Killed, Driver Critically Injured (Video)

Mumbai: The first fatal accident on Mumbai’s Coastal Road occurred near Haji Ali when a car lost control at a sharp turn and overturned twice. The accident left a young man and woman injured. Both were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where the 19-year-old woman was declared dead, while the 22-year-old man remains under treatment.

According to Worli Police, the deceased has been identified as Gargi Chate (19), and the injured as Sanyam Sakla (22). They had left Prabhadevi in a car, heading towards Churchgate, where Sakla was supposed to drop Gargi off. However, near Haji Ali, the driver lost control at a sharp turn, causing the car to overturn. The impact proved fatal for Gargi Chate, while Sakla sustained critical injuries and is still undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Following the accident, Worli Police arrived at the scene and ensured the injured received immediate medical attention. However, Gargi succumbed to her injuries, while Sakla continues to receive treatment. Sakla is pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA), while Gargi was in her second year of finance studies.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that Sakla was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. However, further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the accident.
