Mumbai: Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed strict legal action against app-based buses, cars, and bike taxis operating in Maharashtra if they fail to comply with legal and regulatory norms. He emphasized that all such transport services must follow the rules laid down by both the Central and State Governments.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan to discuss issues related to app-based transport services, Sarnaik stated that while the state government encourages innovation and welcomes positive changes in the transportation sector, all operators must ensure legal compliance.
“Whether it is app-based buses, cars, or bike taxis — all must conduct business within the framework of the law. Violators of government regulations will face strict action,” said Sarnaik.
The meeting was attended by Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar and other senior officials of the Transport Department.
