The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will unveil a statue of Lord Gautam Buddha at the Jewel of Navi Mumbai in Nerul’s Sector-26 on Saturday, July 12, at 10:00 AM. The ceremony will witness the presence of senior political leaders and dignitaries from across Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde will be the chief guest at the inauguration, with Forest Minister Ganesh Naik attending as guest of honour.
Also expected at the event are Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Shinde (Kalyan), MP Naresh Mhaske (Thane), Belapur MLA Manda Vijay Mhatre, MLA Dnyaneshwar Mhatre, MLC Niranjan Davkhare, and MLA Rajesh More from Kalyan Rural.
Belapur MLA Manda Vijay Mhatre, speaking ahead of the event, said the park would be developed into a place to seek peace, a message profoundly spread by Lord Buddha. She added that this would be the first-of-its-kind statue in the region which is being installed following our persistent demands . The MLA has stated of having statutes of Ahilya Bhai Holkar as well as Jijamata in future.

NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde (IAS) described the event as a culturally significant milestone for Navi Mumbai. City Engineer Shirish Aradwad is supervising preparations.
The civic body has extended an open invitation to all residents to witness the unveiling ceremony, which will be held at the Jewel of Navi Mumbai in Sector-26, Nerul.
