Mumbai Airport Customs Seize ₹14.5 Crore Hydroponic Weed At CSMIA, Bangkok Passenger Arrested For Smuggling
The Customs officials have arrested a passenger for allegedly smuggling drugs valued at Rs 14.5 crore sourced from Bangkok. The passenger had concealed the contraband in his trolley baggage.

Mumbai: The Customs officials have arrested a passenger for allegedly smuggling drugs valued at Rs 14.5 crore sourced from Bangkok. The passenger had concealed the contraband in his trolley baggage.
According to the Customs, during the intervening night of August 05-06, on the basis of spot profiling, the Customs officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI), Mumbai, intercepted one passenger who had arrived from Bangkok.
Passenger Nabbed with ₹14.5 Cr Worth Drugs at Mumbai Airport
"During the examination of the baggage, the Customs officers recovered 14.548 kilograms of suspected Hydroponic Weed (Marijuana), with an illicit market value of approximately Rs 14.5 crores," said a Customs official.
Contraband Concealed in Trolley Bag; NDPS Act Invoked
The said narcotic substance was concealed inside the trolley bag carried by the passenger, who was then placed under arrest under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The agency officials are now probing who had supplied the contraband to the passenger and who was supposed to receive the said consignment in Mumbai.
Second Bangkok Passenger Caught with Fake Diplomatic Bag Containing ₹14.73 Cr Drugs
On Sunday, the Mumbai Airport Customs officials had arrested a man who had arrived from Bangkok for allegedly smuggling Hydroponic Weed having an illicit market value of approximately Rs 14.73 crores. The accused was attempting to smuggle drugs by falsely declaring the consignment as Confidential Diplomatic Cargo linked to national security.
The contraband was concealed inside envelopes bearing Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) markings and sealed with official MEA tape. The bag also contained copies of various United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports and fake top Secret Mission Reports, kept inside the trolley bag carried by the passenger.

In another case, a passenger who had arrived from Bangkok to Mumbai was intercepted and the contraband weighing 5027 grams approximately valued at Rs 5 crore of greenish coloured in lumps form purported to be Hydroponic Weed (Marijuana) was recovered on Monday.
