Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor: Boisar Bullet Train Station Construction Reaches Key Milestone With First Slab Cast

Mumbai: The construction of the Boisar Bullet Train station has reached a significant milestone with the successful casting of the first slab for the station recently.

"The massive slab, measuring approximately 40 meters in width and 37 meters in length, utilized over 1,070 cubic meters of concrete. This marks the beginning of the station’s foundational work, with a total of nine such slabs planned at this level to form the base for track laying" said an official of National High Speed Rail Corporation.

Designed to be a two-level structure, the Boisar station will feature a concourse level and a rail level, stretching an impressive 425 meters in length. The station’s construction involves the use of around 8,000 metric tonnes of steel and 42,000 cubic meters of concrete. The concourse level alone will span 6,000 square meters, while the total station area is expected to cover approximately 17,000 square meters.

"The station’s façade draws architectural inspiration from the fishing nets traditionally used by Konkani fishermen in the region, paying homage to the local heritage" stated official.

Once operational, the Boisar Bullet Train station is poised to significantly enhance connectivity to key regional hubs and attractions. It will provide convenient access to the upcoming Vadhvan Port, located just 23 kilometers away, the Boisar and Tarapur industrial areas, the Tarapur Atomic Power Station, and several renowned tourist destinations including Chichani, Nandgaon, Shirgaon, Kelwa, Dahanu, and Bordi beaches, along with the scenic Hiradpada and Kalamandevi waterfalls.

According to sources, passenger convenience is a major focus for the station, which will feature a two-floored building equipped with lounges, waiting rooms in both paid and unpaid zones, smoking rooms, first aid facilities, toilets, and drinking water amenities. Lifts and escalators will enable smooth movement between levels, and various shops will be available on the concourse level catering to both paid and unpaid areas.
