Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday night in Andheri West, Mumbai, where a 35-year-old deliveryman lost his life after being struck by a speeding Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation mini-compactor, a solid waste collection vehicle. The incident took place around 1 AM at Masjid Al Salam Chowk in Walawalkar Chowk, according to Lokmat Times report.
The victim was riding a two-wheeler when the vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed, lost control and rammed into his vehicle. The victim, a resident of Goregaon, was working as a deliveryman. Bystanders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, doctors declared him dead upon arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

The vehicle involved in the accident belongs to BMC's solid waste management Vehicle. The driver, identified as Prakash Yadav, is aged 40. Following the incident, the Oshiwara police have registered the case under Section 106 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which pertains to liability for death or injury caused by negligence, along with Section 281 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with endangering public safety by rash or negligent driving, and the further investigation is underway, as per the report.
