Mumbai: The Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the new projects for the development of the infrastructure and the transport of the city in a press conference on April 11.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis discussed the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) and the highly anticipated Mumbai One card for transportation. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch of 238 new air-conditioned local trains in Mumbai, aimed at reducing congestion and providing a hassle-free travel experience. He also provided updates on the redevelopment efforts for 132 stations across Maharashtra.

World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES): Mumbai is set to host the first-ever WAVES Summit, locating the city as a global hub for the entertainment and media industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event, marking its importance on the national stage.
Mumbai 1 Card: A unified travel card, the Mumbai 1 Card, will soon be launched, allowing seamless travel across all public transport systems, including suburban railways, Metro, Monorail, and city buses with a single tap. Integration with the railway ticketing system is in progress.
‘Glorious Maratha Tour Train’: Chief Minister Fadnavis announced the launch of the 'Glorious Maratha Tour Train', a 10-day heritage journey from Delhi to Raigad, beginning on July 16. The initiative aims to celebrate and showcase Maratha history and culture.
238 New AC Local Trains: Union Minister Vaishnaw revealed that 238 new air-conditioned local trains will be introduced on the Mumbai network, significantly improving the commuter experience and reducing congestion.
Station Redevelopment: The minister also emphasised the redevelopment of major 132 railway stations in Maharashtra. Highlighting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), he remarked that the station, once completed, will be better than London’s King’s Cross Station in terms of design and facilities.
