Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has successfully conducted a computerised lottery for the allotment of residential units to Project Affected Families (PAFs) under the in-situ rehabilitation scheme in Kalbadevi and Girgaon areas on Thursday. The lottery event marks a significant milestone in the rehabilitation efforts of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 project.
A total of 145 residential units of varying sizes in the newly developed K3 block have been allocated to 90 Project Affected Persons (PAPs) from Kalbadevi, specifically from the Kamanivadi locality.
The lottery process, conducted with transparency and fairness, is part of MMRC’s commitment to ensuring that the families displaced due to the Metro project are provided with modern and secure living spaces within their existing neighbourhood.
This marks the initiation of the house allotment process for the affected families, who will now receive permanent housing solutions after enduring the challenges posed by the project’s construction. The rehabilitation effort is being closely monitored to ensure that the displaced families can continue to live in proximity to their places of work and maintain their social and economic networks.
The lottery’s success is a crucial step toward the completion of the Metro Line 3 project’s rehabilitation phase. This step highlights MMRC's efforts to not only improve transportation infrastructure but also to ensure that affected communities are rehabilitated with dignity. The allocation of these homes is an important gesture toward improving the quality of life for the displaced families while minimising the disruptions caused by such large-scale urban projects.
