The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released its outlook for second half of the southwest monsoon 2025 (August - September), which states that Maharashtra will receive below-normal to normal rainfall in August, however, the rainfall activity will rebound in September. The weather department has forecasted above-average rainfall for the monsoon 2025. For Mumbai, the monsoon arrived 16 days earlier this year- on May 26 against the normal date of onset of June 11.
Mumbai was lashed with heavy rainfall untill last week. However, the is a lull for a week and for the coming week also no heavy rainfall is expected. As per IMD district weather forecast for the next five days, starting from August 3, no weather alerts are issued for Mumbai and it's metropolitan regions - Thane, Palghar and Raigad. The region is likely to witness light rains.

So far, Mumbai has already received 47.32% of its average annual rainfall. As of morning of August 3, the eastern suburbs have received maximum downpour with 1,165 mm rainfall, followed by the western suburbs with 1,067 mm rainfall and city area has recieved 900 mm rainfall.
The total capacity of seven lakes is 14.47 lakh million litres.

Middle Vaitarna- 97.17%
Modak Sagar- 100%

Vihar- 72.52%
