Maharashtra Politics: Jayant Patil Charts Revamp Plan For NCP(SP) Amid Merger Buzz, Exodus Of Leaders

Against the backdrop of mounting speculation over a potential merger between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the exodus of several key leaders to the Ajit Pawar-led camp, NCP (Sharad Pawar) State President Jayant Patil convened a crucial meeting of top state office-bearers on Wednesday in Mumbai.
During the meeting, Patil outlined a comprehensive roadmap to rejuvenate the party’s organizational structure and sharpen its electoral strategy. He emphasized the urgent need for restructuring and hinted at new appointments aimed at energizing the party cadre and making the organization more agile and responsive.
Party Chief Spokesperson Mahesh Tapase informed the media that Patil laid out immediate priorities, with a special focus on preparing robustly for the upcoming local self-government elections. Patil urged district and taluka-level units to mobilize at the grassroots and strengthen booth-level networks to ensure electoral success.
Highlighting the need to expose what he described as widespread corruption under the current regime, Patil reaffirmed the party's commitment to transparency, accountability, and justice. He called on party workers to take up these issues and connect directly with the people.
As part of efforts to empower the next generation, the NCP(SP) leadership announced plans to strengthen its Youth and Women’s Wings by inducting enthusiastic volunteers and ensuring broader representation in political processes.

The party has also decided to launch statewide outreach tours. Senior leaders will travel across Maharashtra to engage with citizens, listen to their grievances, and raise awareness about what the party alleges are anti-people policies of the state government.
Special focus will be placed on addressing pressing issues such as farmer distress, youth unemployment, and other challenges impacting everyday life in the state.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mahesh Tapase said,
“Today’s meeting was a reaffirmation of our commitment to the people of Maharashtra. Under the leadership of Sharad Pawar Saheb and Shri Jayant Patil, the NCP(SP) is determined to emerge stronger, more united, and deeply connected with the issues of the common man. We are prepared to take the fight to the streets and ensure justice, development, and democratic accountability prevail in the state.”
