Maharashtra News: CBI Books CGST Superintendent And SBI Officer In Separate Bribery Cases
In two separate cases of bribery, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a probe against a superintendent of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and a State Bank of India (SBI) officer. In both the cases, the CBI has registered offences on charges of offence relating to demand of undue advantage by public servant under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Mumbai: In two separate cases of bribery, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a probe against a superintendent of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and a State Bank of India (SBI) officer. In both the cases, the CBI has registered offences on charges of offence relating to demand of undue advantage by public servant under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In the first case, a written complaint was received from a Pune resident against a lady bank officer of SBI's loan department, Pimple Saudagar Branch, Pune, alleging therein that the banker demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for sanction of top-up of personal loan of Rs 5 lakh.
The complainant had earlier availed a personal loan of Rs 25 lakhs through the accused banker and recently approached her for a top-up loan of Rs 10 lakhs. The complaint was verified by the CBI which confirmed the demand of undue advantage of Rs 30,000 of the bank officer following which a criminal offence has been registered in the case.

In another case, the CBI had received a complaint on Monday filed by the proprietor of an IT Solutions company situated at Sangamner, Ahmednagar, alleging therein that D. Wadwe, superintendent of CGST, Sangamner Range, demanded undue advantage of Rs 1000 for completing his work for allotment of GST Number. The said complaint was verified by the CBI which confirmed the demand of undue advantage of Rs 1000.
