COVID-19 Cases Rise In Maharashtra: Mumbai Reports Highest Numbers, Thane Sees 10 Infections In 3 Days

Mumbai: Maharashtra has seen a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, with a total of 105 infections reported so far. The rise has prompted health authorities to monitor the situation closely, although the overall hospitalisation rate remains low. Mumbai alone has reported 95 COVID-19 cases this month, accounting for the majority of Maharashtra’s tally. Despite the spike, only 16 patients have required hospitalisation, indicating that most cases are mild.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Responds to Rising Cases

Reacting to the rise in COVID-19 infections, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said, "COVID cases are increasing, and some cases have already come to light. It is now the responsibility of the BMC administration and the health department, which comes under the state government, to take appropriate action", reported by media agency IANS.

Thane Reports 10 Cases in 3 Days

In Thane district, 10 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the past three days. Health officials have assured the public that adequate stockpiles of medicines and medical supplies are available at all local health centres.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man named Wasim Sayyed from Mumbra in Thane died on Saturday at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa after testing positive for COVID-19. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and whether he had any underlying health conditions.

Health Department Says, 'No Reason To Panic' Amid Surge In Cases

The health department highlighted that the recent increase in COVID-19 cases is not limited to Maharashtra but is also being seen in other Indian states as well as in countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and regions of East Asia.

Despite the rise, officials have advised the public to remain calm. According to a statement from the BMC, “Covid is now an endemic illness, with rare and sporadic cases,” they mentioned in a release. “The virus is present at the community level, but with low transmission intensity.”
