Esplanade Court’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has denied bail to Mohammed Ilyas Yakub Momin, arrested for allegedly forging deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis's signature and creating a fake email for fraudulent transfers.

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Esplanade Court has, for the second time, rejected the bail application filed by a Sangli-based man, Mohammed Ilyas Yakub Momin, who was arrested in October 2023 for allegedly forging the signature of the then deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The accused is also alleged to have created a fake email address impersonating the deputy CM’s personal secretary and used it to send forged transfer letters to several government employees. While rejecting the bail, the court observed, “In this case, the accused has been arrested for a very serious offence— committing forgery of the signature of the deputy chief minister of the Government of Maharashtra.

Since previous bail applications have already been rejected by this Court, and there is no change in circumstances, the present application cannot be allowed.”
