According to the Hindu Panchang (calendar), festivals are determined based on the Tithi (lunar date) rather than the fixed dates of the Gregorian calendar. The Navami Tithi, which determines the observance of Ram Navami, follows the timings below:
Navami Tithi Begins: April 5, 2025, at 7:26 PM
Navami Tithi Ends: on April 6, 2025, at 7:22 PM
Shubh Muhurat for Puja: April 6, 2025, from 11:08 AM to 1:39 PM
As per Hindu customs, since the Navami Tithi prevails at sunrise on Sunday, April 6, Ram Navami will be celebrated on this day.
History and significance of Ram Navami
Ram Navami has been observed since ancient times, dating back to the Treta Yuga, when Lord Rama was born. Although there are no historical records to determine the exact number of years since his birth, Vedic scriptures suggest that Lord Rama's birth occurred approximately a million years ago. The festival signifies the victory of righteousness and the embodiment of dharma (righteousness) in the form of Lord Rama.
