Nita Ambani Opens Swadesh Store At Mumbai's Historic Eros Building, Honouring Indian Craftsmanship
More than just a store, Swadesh is a tribute to India's deeply rooted handcrafted traditions, reimagined for a new generation.

In a blend of tradition and modern retail, Nita Mukesh Ambani officially opened the doors to Swadesh's flagship store on July 25, 2025, at the iconic Eros Building in Churchgate, Mumbai. More than just a store, Swadesh is a tribute to India's deeply rooted handcrafted traditions, reimagined for a new generation.
Store that tells India's story
With Swadesh, Reliance Retail isn't just launching another high-end retail destination; it's crafting a cultural experience. From handloom sarees and carved wooden artifacts to textiles, paintings, and home decor, every item in Swadesh carries a piece of India’s soul. It's creating a space that both preserves and promotes India’s diverse artisanal heritage.

Before its public launch, a private puja ceremony was held on July 22, attended by Nita Ambani, her daughter Isha Ambani, and daughters-in-law Shloka Mehta and Radhika Merchant. The intimate ritual reflected Swadesh's philosophy, grounded in authenticity and respect for heritage.
To commemorate the store's launch, the Reliance Foundation partnered with a leading national newspaper to release a Kantha-embroidered fabric jacket cover, featuring the Tree of Life motif. This gesture symbolised Swadesh’s mission to reconnect the everyday with the timeless, and to bring Indian art into contemporary conversations.
From the heart of heritage to the heart of Mumbai
The choice of venue is no accident. The Eros Building in Mumbai, with its art deco grandeur and historical significance, offers the perfect canvas for Swadesh’s vision. It’s a space that bridges old and new, just like the crafts it houses.
