Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A violent clash broke after Bajrang Dal workers allegedly attacked Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) employees, vandalised over two dozen government vehicles during an anti-encroachment drive on cow sheds on Wednesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10 am in Rajendra Nagar, when a team of IMC workers allegedly demolished illegally-built cow sheds. They began loading the cows onto trolley-tractors to relocate them.
Some Bajrang Dal activists arrived at the spot and objected to the way the cows were being transported. IMC workers then resisted, after which a fight broke out between the two groups.
Three IMC employees injured
It is said that three municipal employees were injured in the altercation. They are receiving treatment at the hospital at present.
Also, Bajrang Dal activists are gathering at the Dwarkapuri police station, while IMC staff are regrouping at the Hawa Bangla Zone office.
'Cowsheds were built illegally'
Regarding the matter, IMC Deputy Commissioner Lata Agrawal stated that the cowsheds were removed as those were built illegally. She refuted Bajrang Dal workers claims on detaining or forcing the cows to vehicles, saying that the team was relocating the cattle to the govt cow sheds.
"On the instructions of Commissioner, we conducted the removal drive at two places, Suryadev Nagar and Dutt Nagar at around 6 am on Wednesday. The cowsheds were demolished as were built illegally. The municipal's cow sheds are in very good condition and all the cows were sent to the same, so that we could take good care of them," she added.
In the altercation, three employees were injured. Agrawal added that and investigation has been started on the matter and further action will be taken after discussing the matter with the Municipal Commissioner.
