Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Collector Priyank Mishra removed chief block medical officer (CBMO) Sheela Mujalda from her position on Friday following a surprise inspection at the Civil Hospital.

The inspection, conducted by the SDM, found 12 doctors and 55 employees absent from their duties. A show-cause notice was issued to 13 doctors and were ordered to reply within 3 days.

This alarming situation prompted the SDM to prepare a panchnama and report the findings to the collector for immediate action.

Collector Mishra stated that Mujalda's removal was necessary due to serious irregularities discovered during the inspection. He emphasised that alternative actions are being prepared against the absent doctors and employees to ensure accountability.

CMHO Rakesh Shinde confirmed the removal of Mujalda and mentioned that a charge sheet regarding the incident would be prepared within 2 to 3 hours and sent to the collector for further action.

Shinde also chaired a three-hour-long meeting with doctors behind the close doors to emphasise the importance of being on time and dedicated to patient care.

Interestingly, after the inspection and the warning of strict measures, all doctors were present at the hospital on Friday, treating patients. The atmosphere changed with patients expressing happiness at seeing the doctors in the OPD.

Also, the doctors who were absent during the inspection appeared embarrassed, claimed patients. Medicine specialist Arun Kumar Moharani has been appointed the new CBMO of Civil Hospital Sardarpur.
