Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department's slogan "MP ajab hai, sab se gajab hai" has been much talked about, and has prroved to be 100 per cent right in the context of ongoing election campaigning in the state, where candidates are trying their best to woo the voters.
In the same series, independent candidate Priyank Singh Thakur from Burhanpur assembly constituency in Burhanpur district went to file his nomination on Thursday riding on a donkey back.
Congress fielded sitting MLA Surendra Singh Shera, while the BJP gave a ticket to a former cabinet minister and state spokeperson Archana Chittnis.
A video of the entire incident went viral on social media, and people are also taking a dig at this style of leadership.
Symbol against dynastic politics
Priyank Singh Thakur has accused political parties of dynastic politics, saying that only a few select family members are making voters fools, and this is why I’d opted to ride a donkey.
By choosing to ride a donkey, Thakur symbolically rejects the influence and control of these nepotistic practices in politics, advocating for a fair and inclusive system that prioritizes merit over familial connections.
