Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh): A mango auction was held on Thursday in Alirajpur district to help farmers earn better prices for their crops. Revenue SDO Tapish Pandey announced that this initiative, guided by district collector Dr Abhay Arvind Bedekar aims to increase the value of mango produce.
During the auction, Param Singh from Borkua initially sought ₹12,000 for his mangoes but ended up receiving ₹17,000. Similarly, Chimaliya from Dungargaon expected ₹14,000 but was pleased to receive over ₹29,000 for his mangoes.

SDM Tapish Pandey stated that the collector directed the Horticulture and Agriculture Department to set minimum rates based on the quality and type of mango. This will ensure that farmers know they will receive a fair price for their produce in the future.
To support this effort, deputy collector Nidhi Mishra and other officials monitored the auction closely, ensuring transparency and fairness. On the first day, 312 quintals of mango were sold by 156 farmers, with prices ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹4,000. Farmers received an average of ₹3,000, based on a model rate of ₹2,500, which is a significant boost to their income.
