Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A 6-hour-long chakka jam was held in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district on Thursday in protest against a recent ‘Love Jihad’ case.

Demonstrators demanded the demolition of the homes belonging to the 11 accused, all of whom have been arrested.

Villagers, along with the Sakal Hindu Samaj, have been protesting in various ways for several days.

On Thursday, protestors once again took to the streets and blocked the Ujjain-Jhalawar National Highway. Upon receiving the news, administrative officials rushed to the spot to persuade the villagers.

Due to the intense heat, the villagers had set up a tent in the middle of the road.

At one point, they even said that they would stay there overnight if no resolution was reached. A heavy police force was deployed at the site, and the route to Jhalawar was diverted via Garoth.

After extensive discussions, the protestors finally relented. The roadblock was lifted after six hours. Officials assured the villagers that action would be taken as per the law.

Regarding the demands, officials said that any demolition of illegal structures will be carried out strictly under the guidelines of the Supreme Court.

As the situation remains tense, authorities are urging the public to remain calm while legal processes take their course.
