Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Teachers in Sardarpur development block are facing significant financial difficulties due to delays in their updated pay scale.
For the past eight months, around 500 teachers have not received their approved pay scale, resulting in monthly salary losses of Rs 2500 to Rs 3000. This has led to a cumulative loss amounting to lakhs of rupees.
The teachers have completed all required paperwork and have been assured that their pay scales will be processed. However, the Treasury and Accounts Department in Indore continues to reject these pay scales without clear reasons, causing frustration among educators. Many teachers have served for over a decade, and according to government rules, they are entitled to this revised pay scale.
Despite repeated visits to the Block Education Office, clerks from 13 cluster centres report ongoing issues with the Treasury department. Recently, many teachers received messages indicating further rejections of their pay scale, raising concerns about their upcoming salaries. If the situation is not resolved, teachers fear their May salaries will also be affected.
The emotional toll on the teachers is considerable, with many expressing feelings of mental stress due to the uncertainty surrounding their income. Leaders from the Azad Adhyapak Shikshak Sangh have warned that if the issue persists, they may resort to protests to demand their rightful pay.
Block Education Officer Labhu Charan stated that while the block office has processed the teachers' pay scales, the Treasury and Accounts Department's refusal to approve them remains an unresolved issue. The teachers are awaiting the release of their pending arrears once the pay scales are passed.
