Madhya Pradesh: School Buildings In Dilapidated Condition; Students Face Uncertain Future |
Mandleshwar (Madhya Pradesh): With new academic session beginning on June 15, students of Mahatma Gandhi School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School are likely to face a shortage of classrooms due to the dilapidated condition of the school building.
Several classrooms cannot be used as there is fear that roof would cave in. Although iron support pillars have been installed for temporary safety, these rooms have not been utilised for the past 2-3 years.
If these rooms are repaired, they can be used again. However, the Tribal Department is not getting them repaired and no steps have been taken for constructing a new building. Despite administrative efforts to address the issue, hope for an immediate resolution of the problem remains dim.
Additionally, students of Government Girls Primary School are also facing an uncertain future as the old building in which classes 1-5 were running, has been ordered to be dismantled. Now, an indoor stadium would be constructed after demolition of the school building.
Consequently, these classes of the primary department will be held in the Girls Higher Secondary School where there is already a shortage of classrooms. Even the school building of Girls Higher Secondary School is in a dilapidated state as the school's boundary wall has been broken for the past two to three years. Not only this but the school's lab is also broken.
Writer and historian Durgesh Rajdeep called for protection of Mahatma Gandhi School due to its historical significance and the need for construction of a new school building.
A proposal for a new building has been submitted to the state government and additional classrooms for the primary girls' school have been approved, said Prashant Arya, assistant commissioner Tribal Department, Khargone.
