Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): Dhar district witnessed significant changes in its police department with large-scale transfers affecting various ranks. A total of 330 personnel were reassigned, including 12 constables, head constables, 29 sub-inspectors and 12 assistant sub-inspectors.
For the first time, an entire police station has been changed in the district, said officials.
The transfers come in response to complaints that some constables and head constables had been stationed at the same posts for years, leading to allegations that they were running personal businesses and getting involved in local politics.
These officers were often seen as essential for maintaining law and order due to their familiarity with the community. However, SP Manoj Kumar Singh emphasised that the changes were necessary for improving police efficiency and adhering to government directives.
Many officers who have been in their positions for extended periods are reportedly hesitant to move to new stations, as they have developed a comfort-level in their roles. Despite this, Singh is confident that new officers will adapt and learn quickly, ensuring that law and order is maintained in Dhar, a sensitive area.
The police department has also implemented a policy to ensure that if an officer is reassigned to a station where they have previously served, there must be a gap of at least three years, said SP Singh.
