Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Large and widened potholes on Rau Flyover claimed the life of an 18-year-old youth and left his brother injured after their bike rammed into a moving truck that had swerved to avoid the potholes. The incident occurred around 7 pm when the two were travelling from Dhar to Indore for work.
They were rushed to the hospital, where the younger brother succumbed to his injuries. The impact was so severe that their bike broke into two.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Rajveer Dabar,a native of Dharampuri in Dhar district. His family members said that he worked as a sound system manager for a tent house. He had been working in Indore and wanted to bring his elder brother Arman there for employment.
His brother Arman said that on Saturday, after celebrating Raksha Bandhan, they left their hometown for Indore so Rajveer could arrange work for him.
While descending Rau Flyover , they encountered several potholes. A truck driver moving ahead suddenly swerved in order to avoid the potholes, and their bike crashed into it from behind. Rajveer, who was riding, suffered fatal head injuries, while Arman, riding pillion, sustained minor injuries.
The police began a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and conducted the post-mortem of the deceased.
Sorry state in just 7 months
Shockingly, the flyover had been inaugurated and opened to the public only on December 21, 2024, just seven months ago. Despite costing an estimated Rs 37 crore and spanning 1.02 km, its condition has deteriorated to the extent that large potholes now pose a serious risk to commuters. Over 1 lakh vehicles are estimated to pass through the Rau Bypass circle daily.
